AUMA-USA proudly joined forces with the American Cancer Society – Relay for Life in the fight against cancer. Company committee members organized a Chili Challenge fundraiser with all proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society. Eight contestants entered their famous chili into the blind taste test. On August 24, 2017, AUMA-USA employees paid to taste all eight chili recipes and vote for their favorite. Those who participated in the Chili Challenge entered a drawing for a paid vacation day. Congratulations to Curt Fry, winner of AUMA-USA’s first Chili Challenge! The Chili Challenge was a huge hit and very successful as AUMA-USA raised over $1,000 to donate to the American Cancer Society – Relay for Life. Thank you to everyone who contributed and made this event a success. |

Following the Chili Challenge, AUMA-USA participated in the 7th Annual Relay for Life at Southpointe Business Park on Wednesday, September 13, 2017. The event was held 10:00 a.m. to 2:00p.m.; those interested in walking were allotted 30 minutes and received the chance to win a paid vacation day. In that time, partakers were to walk the course as many times as possible to support the lives affected by cancer. Businesses of Southpointe provided water, snacks and encouragement for participants.
Relay for Life at Southpointe was a very touching event; it was great to see corporations and their employees come together for a common goal – fight against cancer. Survivors spoke about what Relay for Life means to them and how encouraging it was to see so many people involved in the event. The hope is to double the number of participants for the 8th Annual Relay for Life at Southpointe in 2018.
